We've got lots of 'best' threads, but here's a new one.
What is your favorite DVD? Great movie, lots of extras, great packaging?

I'd still have to say Fight Club is up there as one of the best I've gotten. Everything from the movie to the extras to the packaging sets it apart as one of the best (in my opinion).

Snatch was pretty awesome too. Especially for the 'Pikey' subtitles! The Monty Python & the Holy Grail Special Edition was a lot of fun to watch as well.

I only own about 5 dvds since there are very few movies that make me want to watch them more than once. Here's my hall of fame:
The Big Lebowski Caddyschack Spaceballs The Jerk Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels Office Space (need to get it)
I know I will kick myself later when I rember more I foolishly forgot, but that's what I can remember for now.

I don't know what DVD I really think is best... I own several, but none really stick out in my mind.
One thing I can add however is a plug for dvdtalk.com. They have lots of reviews on tons and tons of DVD's including their special features and other things.

Woh, you actually liked Final Fantasy? I mean, putting the graphics aside... I felt that FF the movie was a HUGE disappointment... There wasn't enough character development for me to care about the characters when they were in trouble during the action scenes, so I had no sense of danger or intensity... I know it's not the fact that the characters were CG; movies by Pixar made me care more about the characters and care more about what was going on in the movie...
sorry off topic.

I like my Fight CLub DVD, as well as my Shrek DVD. Both are very good movies, and have tons of extras.
I heard Planet of the Apes was pretty good as well, but, I didnt like the movie, so I'm not going to rent the DVD.

I'll predict the Twin Peaks Season 1 DVD, but I'm a fan of the show, and the VHS tapes are very poor. In any case it's TV @ it's best.

Terminator 2 has a great DVD. Great movie too. Too bad Star Wars doesn't exist on DVD. Stupid Lucas insisting on backing DIVIX...

The Phantom Menace is out on DVD, just not the original trilogy. As far as extra content goes, SWTPM is above average. Great features and lots of goodies. Supposedly, the reason Lucas isn't wanting to do much with DVDs is because he wants to convert his movies to an all digital format; this is why he's filming Episodes II and III in an all digital format. The thinking is that then he can have (even more) absolute control over distribution. Movie theaters won't get film, they'll get a satellite uplink to Skywalker Ranch that will broadcast the movie. Same for home release viewers, they'll tap into Lucas' system to watch the movie. Nobody will have a videocassette, a DVD, or anything. The only plus I see is no fees for returning the movie late or for failure to rewind...

I think the Shrek DVD has some of the funniest extras ever. Especially the alternative ending with everyone singing famous tunes. It's hilarious. The Shrek DVD also has this thing where you can provide your own voices for certain scenes in the movie, and then using a DVD-ROM, you can watch the entire movie, with your scenes placed in.

The "bloopers" from toystory 2 have got to be one of the funniest things i have ever seen. I really like the way pixar adds outtakes to their movies. I hear there are some in monsters inc now, but i already went and saw it once. Anybody seen the extras in monsters?

I love Terminator 2 (the Ultimate edition), Snatch, and Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels :) In my mind, its the movie that makes the DVD, not the extra stuff!
