Ratings

In DevHood, tools and tutorials submitted are very powerful because they can be rated on a scale of 1-5, and the ratings can both help you in your quest for higher levels or hurt your progression. However, note that additional experience points for ratings are ONLY available to original works. Thus a tool that is submitted by you, but not an original work of yours, can still be rated but WILL NOT affect your experience points in any way.

The base experience points from the ratings are:

Rating Base Experience
5 2
4 1
3 0.5
2 0
1 -1

The base experience points are then multiplied by the rater's caste multiplier to determine the final reward/punishment bestowed upon the author. The caste multiplier is the rater's caste level minus one and is as follows:

Caste Caste Multiplier
Peasant 0
Squire 1
Soldier 2
Archer 3
Commander 4
Knight 5
King 6
Wizard 7

For example, if an Archer gives a Peasant's tutorial a 4, then the Peasant will receive 3 experience points. However, if a Peasant rates a King's tutorial a 1, it has no effect on the King's experience.

The lesson here is that to progress through DevHood you need to make friends in high places and make sure you do not make many high leveled enemies.
